door interlock testing question

Have read a few topics regarding using a terminal screwdriver to slide across the door lock for checking ..can anyone fill me in with this procedure ,i usually use my meter for testing but am curious to the above ?

pretty sure they are just talking about replicating the action of the door hook. It eliminates door hook spring problems and loose pins etc.

Ah cheers i thought some one had found a better trick for testing that i was not aware of 😉
