Door refusing to stay closed on Tecnik TKD795 dishwasher

Hi,

The door of our dishwasher keeps popping open and is getting worse and worse. I’m guessing that the latch is getting old and isn’t strong enough any more.

The latch looks like this:

Before I buy the part I just wanted to see if anyone had any advice on what else the problem might be.

The dishwasher is a Tecnik TKD795 which I believe is Whirlpool.

more likely the hinges are worn or the hinge pins that support the door are bent, often a result of the door springs breaking and the door dropping down heavily. Pins can usually be bent back straight but door neds to be removed to do so which involves removing the springs first- not a DIY job. IMO.
Door latch is cheap option so may be worth a try, dont hold out much hope though unless its visibly damaged or loose.

Yep – the door springs are definitely broken and the door has fallen down heavily many times – so that sounds like it. As you say, I don’t fancy doing that one myself, so I guess I’ll need to get someone in.
