i have just purchased a new door seal for my hotpoint WMA10P do you have any tips on fitting, i can see the outside is easy enough to fit but how does it connect to the drum, do i need to remove the front panel.
im not a washer fitter but 15 years in the motor trade should give me a head start….i hope.
nb. im not a washer repair virgin but i havent had this one to bits before.
Remove the front panel by removing the soap drawer and taking out the screws once you have done that slide the control panel gently to the right and lift off and lay it on the top asuming you have taken the lid off first.
You will now see 2 screws at the top of the panel take them out.
Remove the kickplate at the bottom and remove the 2 screws there as well. Also take the door lock screws out the panel will now lift off and out of the way and you will see a screw holding a wire band round the door seal unscrew it and remove the old door seal.
To replace the door seal first of all add a touch of fairy liquid to the inside lip of the door seal so it will move round when the drum side is on as the hole at the bottom must line up with the hole in the drum now you can secure it with the wire band and screw the rest is just reverse of above.
Remember do it with the power off.
But make sure you pull the plug out first before doing any of the above !!
Raider, with that kind of knowledge have you signed in the Trade Forums
yet ?

I would go easy on the Fairy liquid on the inner part of the seal. If you are using a genuine replacement it will be coated in a ‘slippy’ substance that makes fitting to the drum and front panel quite easy.
Also take great care when the front panel is off, the exposed metal edges are very sharp.
