Re: Door seal retaining spring pliers

This one come up again 🙂

Can’t remember who it was but someone said smother the seal in washing up liquid and locate the spring at the bottomof the groove then pull the spring upwards. No need for any other ‘tools’. Bit more difficult on the Bosch machines but at least you can take the front off. The Zanussi ones are a doddle, a couple of minutes and its on…….normally just remove the door though 😉 .

Zanussi springs no Prob as long as you have strong fingers no tools needed i always start at the top and always use plenty of washing up liquid on hands.

and lots of fairy on the seal itself inside the lip your fitting over the drum and you will find the seal goes on easy and you can twist it if the drain grove has slipped

I always carry a couple of THESE with me. They come in various sizes, the small ones are ideal for most door seals.

I put a door seal on a Hotpoint integrated washer dryer BWD129 today, the inner door retaining band took ages to put on again.

Does anyone know the part number for the WMA retaining bands that have the screw in retaining band?

I use a large cable tie around the band, so you have something to get hold of you can either leave it there for next time or cut it off.

I would add to be extremely careful as I was changing the door seal on a late Whirlpool using the above method when the spring came off one end of the clamp and my hand shot up and hit the crossbar cutting the thumb down to and nicking the tendon, I had an op to repair it. Now I am off work for 10 to 12 weeks.
