    Hi all

We all manage ok on fitting front door seal retaining springs…maybe with a few numb finger tips!…after fitting a seal on a WAS style Bosch (8kg drum) the front spring was near on impossible…not as easy as WAE,WFB etc.
Many years ago AEG had spring pliers to resolve this pain!…I phoned Bosch Tech today and they have nothing…does anyone know of any tool on the market that opens wide enough or made by any of the manufacturers??

I refused to use screwdrivers in case of a fatal slip and scratch!!

    HELP!!!??

    Cheers guys!

    Fingers are the only answer.

You appear to have trade access kelland, moved you to Trade Tech. 😉

Afraid my fingers and well manicured nails 😀 would be unable to refit most of the spring and wire retaining clamps out there.

A liberal application of washing up liquid and two small screwdrivers for me 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time.

They must have a tool in the factory to fit these clamps on production surely. 😕

If you are worried about slipping go to your local cycle shop and get a pair of mini plastic tyre levers, 3″ long have a recessed end are ideal for the job.

the ones supplied to us when we did the AEG/Electrolux stuff, were a pair of external circlip pliers with the points widened to fit the clamps, its seen better days!!!!

    SPOT ON!!
Exactly what i do too….. just fit a zanussi seal a few hours ago, i take the whole front off ( cabinet splits down middle ) as the rear retainer is one huge spring… these zanussi’s are/can be a right pain, strip half the machine down just to fit a seal, but its much quicker than trying to fit these through the porthole.

TBH I would guess most others don’t go that far with Zanussi seals.

Someone did post a few years back that he took the tub out to do a door seal change. 😯

They are a PITA but a couple of clamps or some folded wedges of cardboard and a long screwdriver poked through the door lock hole are all you need. 😉

I would like those that DONT to post here how on earth they do it and how long it takes them, because FR1450W has a big circular weight around were the inner lip fits and there is NO finger room whatsoever.

Done a couple yrs ago through the port hole and what a job it was.

    Cabinet front OFF ever since.

Has any of you guys had trouble fitting the inner seal band to some of the later Hotpoint stuff?.

Fitted a seal to a BWM129 last week, the retaining band is the same as I have seen on some of the LG / Samsung machine.

Was a right pain, took about 30min, using cable ties etc, any tips on fitting these?

Re: Door seal retaining spring pliers

LG. Get a piece of cable and tie it around the end of the clamp with the hook on it, loosen one of the weight blots at about the 10 o`clock position, wrap the wire around the bolt and tighten this gives you a free hand to pull down the other end.
