ParticipantI am renovating a house and putting in a new kitchen. The house will be a family home.
I originally wanted a built in double oven, however, I’m starting to doubt whether I’ll get a lot of use out of the smaller oven and also if double ovens are good performers compared to single ovens.
I’m now considering a built in single oven and a combi microwave, these two appliances would be housed in a tall appliance housing unit. I like the idea of the microwave being not using counter space and it can double as an oven when I’m cooking a large meal.
I would appreciate your opinion.September 26, 2017 at 6:20 pm #450678Martin

Double oven your best option. The smaller oven incorporates a grill, an essential tool if you want to use both oven and grill at the same time. You canβt do that with a single oven π

Agree with Martin, I have a microwave above a double oven.
The other advantage of a double oven is the oven not in use for cooking can be used to warm plates or keep other food warm. πSeptember 27, 2017 at 10:57 am #450680don

Hi
Not wanting to confuse or tread on other’s comments π we had in our last house a single oven and a combination microwave over it in a tall housing. That way you have double oven, double grill and microwave option and at the same time all the other benefits as previously mentioned.

Thank you Martin, iadom and don
How does the grilling space compare between a grill in a double oven and a combi microwave ovens?
Re. the idea of the combi microwave oven on top of the single oven. I am a little worried it might be a little too high for getting hot food stuff out safely. I’m 5″ 4′.

Thank you Martin!
I was all for a built under oven, but people are recommending to me that I get an oven at a height I don’t have to bend down because of my bad back and small children.

Hi
A good kitchen fitter would be able to drop the oven shelf down to a level comfortable for yourself while at the same time being safe.
On the grill topic you could always have a built in double oven that has a grill in both cavities that way giving you loads of grilling room.
