We had a little downtime last night dueto something to do with the MySQL Server, dunno what and I didn’t ask as it’s way too techie for me.

What did come out of it is that the forums seem to have hit 10Mb of space on their own, which is a fair old bit of data given that it’s just text effectively!

    Anyway, just FYI, from Li;

When the new server is operational, disk space will no longer be an issue for a long time. I’ll make sure you’ll get at least 1GB of space there.

So hopefully the new server is not far away at all. 😀

    FYI….

Li wrote:Our new server should be installed on Monday. Once we have checked it out in the new data centre in London, we’ll start migrating people and services across.

    Server spec:

    1U Dell PowerEdge 1750
    Dual Xeon 2.8GHz
    4GB ECC RAM
    3 x 73GB SCSI Disks in hardware RAID5
    CDROM & Floppy
    Dual redundant PSUs
    Dual redundant Enthernet
    Remote Access Module (DRAC)

    I got that today.

The current server is a P2 with 256Mb of RAM and a 8Gb HD and, err, that’s it really. So this is just an ever so slight increase in raw power even excluding the extra fat pipe that’s in there.

With any luck the site should fly once migrated, I’ll keep you posted.

The new server should be live today, the data center had some issues yesterday with power outages on some of its racks, now cured. But obviously they would prioritise any repair work before installing new equipment.

I’d anticipate Li and Trevor, knowing what they’re like, testing this for about two or three days before moving existing sites over to the new server and I’d bet they hammer it. 😉
