The water in my dishwasher was gathering in the sump and not draining. Long story short after cleaning the filters and getting to the little rubber back flow value with water still sitting I poured some sink and drain unblocker down to try to sort the problem. However I am now unsure if this was the right thing to do due to the toxic chemicals. I have ran two empty cycles at 70 degrees with a dishwasher tablet and some bicarb to try and rinse the residue away. Is my dishwasher still safe to use or is there anything else I can do to make it safe and rectify my mistake !!!

It should be perfectly safe to use. I hope you solved the problem by using it?

No unfortunately not .. Water is still gathering in filter and sump. I think it must be a blockage in the pipe.

What make is your appliance? There is always water visible in the sump when the filters are removed on all dishwashers.
