Participantfor Washing Machine; Hoover Nextra HNF 7147.
We’ve had our kitchen re-done and location of WM is different so need a longer drain hose.
Problem is that when it was installed before we had to cut the rubber bit off the end to thread it through. This now means I can’t extend it using standard extension hoses.
Any ideas. I’ve taken the existing one completely off and it looks like it’s 22mm bore with a 90 degree rubber elbow and some form of jubilee clip to secure it to the pump.
Ideally could do with 4-5m length if they exist.
Thanks

As far as i’m aware they don’t make drain hoses that long and for a very good reason…your machine simply won’t work with that much hose on it!
Manufacturers are as stingy as ever (Hoover/Candy being a prime example) so they fit a tiddly drain pump that’s just man enough to do the job with the drain hose supplied.
Much more hassle and expense but the only way to do it is to extend the house drain plumbing to get it close to the machine i’m afraid…not what you wanted to hear i expect but it’s the only way to go 😕

That’s the thing. It wasn’t extended because it would either be right behind the oven/hob unit or right behind the washing machine itself.
The former would just be bad in terms of accessing it if needed, and the latter would be bad because the WM would stick out far too much!
4-5 meters would take me to the sink waste, but the seperate straight pipe that was put in for the washing machine is maybe 2.5m away.

Then don’t go to the former but buy a hose extension from B&Q, Focus, Homebase (wherever) and take it to the latter far shorter distance. The shorter the better as Clive mentioned earlier. Don’t restrict the internal bore of the hose joint either, 22mm is ideal and you can buy 22mm hose joiners also.
Another word of caution here, those DIY drain coupling kits that cut into and attach to household plastic waste pipes so you can poke the washing machines drain hose onto, are prone to leaks. They break easily and, worst still, clog up regularly as they have an internal ‘non-return valve’ that blocks with the slightest hint of debris passing through the pipework. 🙁
So it’s always best to adhere to the manufacturers specify recommendations regarding plumbing requirements ever time. And be cautious of straying beyond such simple but well-founded advice! 😀
