    Hi
My Bosch washing machine WAE24368GB always leaves a little water in the pump after its finished draining (about half a pint). I can get the water out by opening the filter, but if I don’t the water will go manky.

I’ve taken off the sump hose cleaned it and cleared scum from the ball thing, but it wasn’t too bad. Also cleaned the filter at the pump.
Then I found the drain hose to be almost blocked. I’ve put a new drain hose on, thinking I’d solved it.

But still the same problem – most water is pumped out but half a pint of (now clean) water is left.
I’ve also tried putting the drain pipe outlet into a bucket, and changing the height of where the drain hose goes into the standing pipe, but no difference.

    Thanks for any ideas
    Any idea

There is always a similar amount of water left in any and every washing machine, it is perfectly normal. If the machine is used correctly and frequently the water will not ‘go manky’. It only gets like that with excessive use of liquid detergents and constant low temperature washes.

    Thanks for that iadom.
I can tell you appreciate my technical terminology of “manky”!! 🙂
Concentrated liquid detergents & 40 deg washes are what we do regularly.
So if we do more 60 deg washes & maybe use that affresh stuff I see mentioned on here, all will be well ?

Use good quality, green box powder for your heavier washes, liquids do not contain bleach so they are very poor at killing bacteria that cause the smells.

I won’t put liquids near my machine. 😉

    Have a read of THIS
