Drum bearing failure Bosch/Zanussi

I have allways recommended Bosch and Zanussi washing machines, but I am getting a lot of drum bearing faluires
Which is uneconomical to repair.
What’s happening are they using cheap bearings and seals or is it a poor design, they should give 5 years gaurantee on tub/drum and
PCB. What machine do you recommend on the £250 to £350 range.

If you’re selling machines as well as fixing then Beko.

If you’re only fixing, DON’T recommend any make as it’ll only harm your reputation if the bearings fall to bits a short while later.

It is safe to assume that as the weeks and months go by all makes (bar Miele) will have sealed tubs. The only recommendation therefore as to which make to buy then the one with the longest all inclusive warranty seems a sensible approach.

In the showrooms these days many Bosch and Siemens have a large sticker on the side proclaiming a 10 year guarantee*, and the small print is a little harder to read. The tub will fail long before the motor does.

I have had 3 customers in the last week with Bosch WAQ machines
With bearing failure, I normally write them off,
Do you repair them, What do you charge ?

It is well known that Bosch “did” have a problem the the WAQ range a few years back but this has now been resolved.

I have not seen these Martin and we have plenty of Bosch. The only mention of ten year anywhere is the anti rust guarantee on the dishwashers which is in the brochures. The only label which comes on the side of some product is the energy label.

The 10yr guarantee is for the brushless induction motors I believe.

Very few Beko’s suffer from bearing failure. Only done a few Beko in last 5 years, may have done 100 bearing jobs in that period.
