ParticipantHey all.
Our Whirlpool HDW1011 has quickly developed what can only be described as a rough drum (when turning it) still turns pretty freely but when in use it make a right racket 😥
Anyhow, a friend of a friend has been out to look at it and told me the Central frugal balancer is shot as well as the electronic bearing energizer, the bearing inner, outer and seals and the drum face needs re-lining or skimming (can’t remember?) total cost coming out at £478 plus VAT 😯
My other half has gone skyward and totally flipped out as we couldn’t possible afford that after a mega engine problem with our Renault Modus. So can any of you gents she some light on the real cost of repairs as it seems pretty excessive…
Thanks Bill

Sounds like technobabble. And bearings.
However, given that Whirlpool probably have some of the most expensive spare parts on the planet, next to Miele, the cost isn’t a shocker.
My advice, scrap it.

You would need to supply the long number on the sticker just inside the door before any prices can be attempted. However, it sounds like the machine proberbly needs new bearings & seal.

Right onto the numbers. The service sticker shows 8570 0841 5101 and serial 31 0803 204886. I suspect if part ‘were’ reasonable labour would be a killer to fit bearings right. Never done washing machine bearings but wouldn’t you need a puller and a presser?
Thanks chaps..

Not much change out of £130 quid and then I’ve got to ‘try’ and fit them…. Happy days!
Thanks Allsorts, much appreciated!
[edit] Looks like the whole bloody drum has to come out as well. Just gets better :eeek:

You’ll have such fun doing all that and I can predict the outcome of your efforts too, oh yes!
You’ll wish you took the advice from the first poster in this thread. 😉 😀
