drum not spinning

I have a BOSH WFF2000GB washing machine which is in use every day and has never had any bother other than a belt replacement, however, when I tried to wash today, the drum won’t spin either during the wash cycle or at the end during the spin cycle. The belt is fine and I’ve checked the movement of the drum by spinning it manualy, and it’s fine.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

Carbon brushes worn in the motor I expect Davy 🙂

Dave, thanks for that.
Can you tell me (I’m not an engineer!!) if I can buy carbon brushes to replace the worn ones or will it be a new motor and if so, is it easy to fit? Sorry about asking what might seem like a simple question, but better safe than sorry. 🙂

The motor needs removing first to replace the brushes (Part No: 154740 available via spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk)

However it would be inexpensive and easier to get a local independent to do it for you, try this link for one in your area: Repairs@

Thanks Davy. I’ve checked for an engineer in my area, and guess what….there are none 😯 🙁 !!!!
Guess I’ll have to do it myself. Thanks for your help. 🙂
