only had a dozen spiders corrode in the eleven years I’ve been in the trade. It seems to happen when the customer has a water-softener in their house. (salt water-softeners). i’m based in bedfordshire which is a hard water area.

Low temperature washing every time (40d), Hairdressers boil a lot of towels regulary, machines stay spotless. Interesting how its mainly Hotpoints that fail, all those cavities in the support. 😉

Indesit and Hoover ones also go round here. Old type alloy backplates on Hotpoint and Hoover also rot through in this area.

Soft water is much nicer than that horrible scummy stuff you get elswhere. Just ask tropical fish. 🙂

Done one today, this one was only in three pieces, all bagged up and waiting for the next three. 🙂
This one does disprove the ‘low use’ thoery. This machine does 2 or 3 loads a day, Persil non Bio liquid.

Only soft water here, i remember when the liquids first came out was given all the hard sell by the manufacturers, 3 years down the road smelly machines corroded spiders didnt take long to put 2 and 2 together same is happening now with the colour powders, what is missing from both?

Not forgotton this Kevin, funny how things go in cycles. The last couple of weeks have been WMA drum time, done several. I have changed two WM type drum supports this week already, both now in four pieces, will add another then get them of to you.
Let me know the address I need to send them to.
Jim.
