Hi, more trouble with my hotpoint TDC60 tumble dryer. When I switch it on, the element heats but the drum doesn’t tumble. If I set it to air only then nothing happens. I recently replaced the relays in the PCB and I can hear them switching. The capacitor seems OK in that it takes charge from my multimeter and the resistance increases(it’s only a year old). I have checked resistance between the white terminal and the red and black terminals of the motor and get about 33 Ohm on both sides. The motor is also only one year old.
The motor turns if I turn the fan or drive belt by hand. There is no hum from the capacitor and spinning the drum by hand doesn’t start the tumbling.
Could it be a problem with the relays again? any other ideas?
Thanks Martin, I changed the capacitor and hey presto! It tumbles. Just a note To others to say that even though there was no hum from the motor and I couldn’t push start the tumbling, and the cap seemed ok on the multimeter, it still seems to have been faulty. At £15 it had to be worth a shot. 😀
