    Hi everyone. Great forum.

Have done a quick search on the forum for an answer to my question but I haven’t found a suitable match so here I am.

Have a Creda T622CW dryer. Some weeks ago the heat stopped. Did my research here and bought a 1701583 thermostat kit, and also the 1702697 heating unit. Fitted both thermostats and the heater and off she went – no problem. Also took note of the warning on this web site to keep the fliters clean, empty the water tray regularly, and NEVER to open the door while the unit is running (causes overtemp thermostat trip) – we just leave it going until the end of the cycle.

But a few days ago – no heat again. A quick check has revealed that the green dot thermostat has blown again.

Obvious question: why, if we’re doing all the right things as listed above?

Next question: how, because I understand that the other thermostat trips out at a lower temp, so how on earth did the higher temp one blow? Surely the lower temp thermostate would trip first and stop the heat before the higher one does?

The green dot thermostat is I understand a one-shot device – when it blows its permanent, and must be replaced. Is the other one too? If the other one gets too hot and opens the circuit, does it reset again when the temp comes down? Maybe that would explain why it’s still working (maybe it tripped and then reset), but if it did trip, how did the temperature keep climbing in order to trip the higher temp one?

    Got me puzzled!!!

    Thanks! 🙂

    Craig.

Green spot is a one-shot, the other is a cycling stat; ie opens and closes to regulate the temperature.

The only thing you haven’t mentioned is, that if the motor stops after running for a while, the airflow will stop and the temperature will soar – ping.

Before replacing the stats again, load it up and keep an eye on it, making sure that the motor keeps running.

Thanks Penguin. Well I admit I haven’t sat and watched it go through a whole cycle, but when I’ve been in the room, it runs continuously, except for short periods when it stops and reverses the direction of the drum. I thought that a bit odd, especially after reading that you must never open the door (ie. stop the fan) while it’s running, but it seems to be programmed to stop and reverse. The fan would only be stopped for a second or so each time this happens, but is that long enough to blow the thermostat?

Couldn’t find a description anywhere that said that stopping/starting is normal behaviour.

But apart from that, no I don’t think it stops.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks! 😀

There is a short reverse tumble.

Loose fan on motor is possible – check under heater housing. Mind you, they usually make a noise when they start to slip.

Hi. Latest update: fan tight on shaft, no slipping, no unusual sounds. All seems to be operating OK. Any further suggestions on what might be blowing the theremostat?

    Thanks for all suggestions!
