    Hi,
I would really appreciate advie/support on this situation. My neighbour has installed a dryer and the outlet is approximately 20cm from my fence. It is about 20cm above ground level. The fence supports close the distance to the wall of his house to a gap of about 5 cm. I am really concerned that he cannot access the vent to clean it. This means when it snows it could get blocked and also there is a risk of a build up of lint. The only way he can gain access to the vent is to take my fence down and I am not willing for that to happen. Can anyone tell me if there is a concern? I am also worried about the fact that the emissions are blowing against my fence and at such a short distance that it could eventually cause the fence to ignite due to pyrolysis. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance of any replies. My partner is terminally ill and I am concerned as he would not react well to smoke inhalation.

    Re: Dryer Vent location inaccessible

It’s puzzling to me how the vent outer grill was fitted being as there’s a fence so close? Or could it simply be a large hole in the wall and your fence abuts that hole just 5cms away?

Either way there is little or no danger your fence could be damaged from such a vent. A degree of steam will exhaust but again should not affect or compromise your fence or boundary.

Access and cleaning is a worry though, especially leaves in the Autumn and snow in the Winter. Though again that will only cause your neighbour and his dryer a problem and not affect you or your fence.

If I were your neighbour I would have sought a more sensible solution by buying a condenser dryer thereby eliminating the need for a vent. Or to relocate the vent ( if at all possible ) to a more serviceable location.
