    Hi,

Just come back from a week away and as is always the way, something has broken – namely my Beko DSC85W. When I try to dry any clothes, I get no heat. Have popped the back off and checked the trip switch (which hadn’t tripped), checked the NTC thermostat next to it which had a resistance of 4.5k (is this within tolerance?), but no dice. I decided to find out if the heating element was being powered up at all, and so plugged the drier in through one of those “energy consumption readout” plug things – this shows me that when I first start the program, it draws about 2.6KW of power, which is about right for the element being on. I can then hear the relay click on and off a couple of times, then when it switches to the reverse spin cycle, the heater goes off never to come on again (with the drier consuming just 150W or so).

I thought it might just be a dodgy element, but further reading says it could be the main PCB as well – anyone had this problem, and been able to fix it? Any help would be appreciated…

    Cheers

    JD

Is the NTC low to earth? If it is it won’t heat, new heater or heater & p.c.b required i’d imagine.
