Only if within a few minutes a smell of gas is detected. The customer then simply isolates until rectified. It likely they’ll blame you, but they would have to prove it and honestly how expensive would the damage be. The risk compared to gain is miniscule.
The penalties to Gas Safe registered people making mistakes is a joke, unqualified is almost non existent unless serious injury occurs. A gas safe engineer identified a gas leak on a range cooker, informed the customer to keep the kitchen window open until the leak is repaired, that took a week, he got fine a few hundred quid, registration voided until resitted ccn1.
