ParticipantWhen i start my DWT10 dishwasher, nothing happens, there’s just a beep then what sounds like a quiet motor running. i’ve taken the side panel off and the plastic chamber that the salt goes into appears to have brown goo in it. Is this a blockage and if so how do i clear it, it appears to be a sealed unit.

The “quiet motor” will be the drain pump running at the start to of the programme. It should stop after a minute and the fill sequence start. The chamber full of brown goo is the softener unit and should be left strictly alone!
Being a digital Hotpoint, you should get a combination of flashing lights on the control panel if there is a fault…..
Bit more info needed!

The mystery deepens…………I’ve never known of a dishwasher that works as low as 40 degrees (let alone 45?)…..???
Almost all dishwashers I know have temperatures in excess of 55 degrees?
Is this beast a UK made appliance I wonder????
Are you located in the UK Joe?

Dont know anything about this particular model but it is on newest Partfinder CD. Quite a few current Merloni D/W’s have 40 degree washes. I myself have DW80 Ultima which has 40 & 45 degree programs. Sorry i dont have anymore info. MK

Fast and Eco lit should be no drain in the time allowed. Therefore the machine is blocked, or if it has drained the water out it thinks it’s still full, indicating a problem with the water level control system.
Power off when investigating, please.
