ParticipantPopped my Dyson CR01 cherry yesterday. I don,t know what all the fuss was about – it’s only a washing machine. I was saving myself for the right machine, but you know what it’s like – a moment of weakness.
Anyway, the fault was an F15 – gearchange too slow. Didn’t know what the hell it meant so in for a penny, in for a pound or two I thought. Managed to reset the fault code and on trying it again, the program starts off as normal, then after about 5 minutes or so, there’s a funny whirring noise then it aborts with F15 again. Whipped the back off and reset and tried again. This time on watching it, I could see that there’s this little 12v dc rotary actuator with a nylon pinion on the end which engages with a rack of about 5 in long which is part of a plastic ring mounted on the back of the tub behind the “pulley”. The whirring noise turned out to be the rotary actuator struggling to turn which would have moved the rack anticlockwise and effected the gearchange from both drums going in the same direction to them going in opposite directions. With me so far? Good, cos I’m probably not describing it very well. Should have taken photos. Anyway, I removed the actuator and tried to manually change gear, but it was very stiff. I could do it with a lot of effort, but the actuator obviously couldn’t. I took the pulley cover off and gave it a liberal dosing of wd40 but it did not seem to make much difference. Didn’t want to go much further as I didn’t know if I was gonna get covered in gear wheels. At this point, I put it back together and left with Arnie’s immortal words “I’ll be back”. So now what do I do? Can we get parts for these machines yet? Who does them? I see Electrue are doing some parts for them now, but not the parts that I think I need. My thoughts are that I need the gearchange unit(?) if thats what it’s called. Can anybody out ther shed any light on this? Anybody got an exploded parts diagram?
Please help me,
Dave

Connect are (as far as I am aware) the only people that will help with part identification Dave.
If you use them, use the PNE system which although quite often innacurate may produce something. I’m not sure if they have the diagrams there but it’s the only place I’ve been able to order spares so far with any success.
We’ve fitted so far, one on/off switch and two door interlocks this year, easy to describe and locate whereas yours sounds a little more difficult 🙁

I’ve just had one of those freaky experiences. I just got to the end of reading this thread, when my email alert sounded. I looked in my inbox and got this email
“Hi,
I wonder if you know what Dyson FAULT F15 means.
Thanks and best wishes.”Freaky eh?

Well in addition to what I posted in the “Known Error Codes” thread….
F15 =
Excessive dirt build-up on running surfaces of Actuator & Ramp
Break in continuity, connections at edge connector, in line connector, soldered joints on actuator motor or microswitch or wire broken.
Actuator Motor bracket broken (Motor out of position).
Actuator Plate Posts bent over due to deformation of Actuator Plate.
Motor burnt out!
and finally…Microswitch broken 😥August 25, 2005 at 9:32 am #145388andy_art_trigg

Cheers Martin, Is there a method of resetting or clearing the code?

Quoting from the manual: –
“In software versions V97 & W97, diagnostic mode is activated by switching the power switch on whilst the Dirt Level button is held down and deactivated by turning the power off.
In software version V102 (serial number L006797 onwards) diagnostic mode is activated by switching the power switch on whilst holding down the temperature button. Release the temperature button and press the soil type button within 5 seconds of the power being switched on.
The displays shows the number of cycles, the last 3 fault codes and the software version.”
It isn’t clear to me exactly how one clears the error coding on the V102 version but possibly it can be deactivated by turning the power off after entering the diagnostic mode perhaps :con:
