    Hi
I have a silver and lime DC04 that keeps thowing it’s belt. It did this a lot and eventualy the belt snagged and burnt/wore through. I fitted a new one and realised how much the old one had stretched. I thought the new belt being tighter would stop it coming off but even the new belt has now come off. Is there any way of stopping it slipping off? Or is this simply a design fault that isn’t solvable?

    Any help appreciated.

It’s normally the brush roller that causes this, either that or the main chassis is worn and the belt is not running “true”.

Check for wear on the brush roll where the belt runs 😉

It also worth checking the brushroll housing (bright green thing). Any worn patches on that will cause the machine to snap belts constantly.

Belts jumping off?!?!?! See if there’s any rust on the motor shaft, and stop bumping it over rugs/mats.

There’s also a thin metal rod, that holds the belt in place. This should be part of the brushroll/belt cover that you remove to get access to the belt. Is that rod still there?

    Power off before investigating please.

mine is doing the same and doesn’t appear to have a thin metal strip…where is this situated and can you get a replacement?

    my brush bar looks ok…

should there be a piece on the end of the motor spindle to stop it coming off or something?
