Please don’t judge ! I managed to dunk and soak the motor/handle part of my beloved Dyson Dc44 in water , I have allowed it to dry out and nothing, no light when being charged or any power at all. Believe it is completely ruined. Obviously water damage means it’s not covered under the guarantee, in speaking to Dyson they told me to purchase a new motor for £100, in looking into it I can probably buy a more powerful other brand cleaner for the same price as the part. My question is, is the whole thing now defunct? What can I do with it? Seems an expensive purchase to now just be thrown away!! 🙁 Thank you in advance for your feedback.

If it was running at the time it entered the water, then it may be beyond repair, but if it was switched off, then i would suggest removing the battery, and then leave the whole unit to dry out for a good few days, then try it again….you may be lucky!

    Hi
Don’t want to start new topic about the same thing.
I washed filter on my dc44, left it to dry, and after few hrs i put it back in dyson.
Pushed the button and it worked, but soon after water stred to coming out of the back panel, obviously filter wasn’t dry enough.
Turned it off, and disassembled it, filter on radiator to dry, after sort of 24 hrs i put it back together and it didn’t work, put it on charge, and still nothing.
I took it apart completely, didn’t see anything obvious.
I checked the voltage on battery pack, but it came out as 0V, which is a bit strange. Now is it possible that battery pack is dead?
I tried to check voltage while it is plugged in to charger, but nothing came out, stil sor of 0V, 0.3V.
Motor spins easily, so it is not sized, ciecuit board looks good, all connection looks dry, i know that it might be internall damage to chips or capacitors, but is it worth getting new battery and trying it out, or just bin it, and get whole new body for it?
Charger is on, as the light on plug is on, solid light, not flashing.

    Regards
    Lukasz
