Well, I know that the valves are Eaton type and the motor is made by Ceset, so on the assumption that Dyson are not manufacturing many of the components themselves, the pump will almost certainly be an Askoll.

KeymasterLaurence did indeed kindly take some pictures of the machine and I fired them in the Photo Gallery for consumption. 😉
Thanks Lawrence.

Thanks Lawrence, they are very interesting…
…so the rumour of 2 motors are true….but they seem to be driving the same thing! and double the amount of carbons must be good news for us
Other than that the plastic tub looks just like anyother these days aside from that geared drive at the bottom.By the way, what was the fault?

The problem was the plasset pump. It was a bit of a pig to get into the front when you are driving blind. The plastic outer door has to be removed by popping it off the hinges. I have tried to show on one of the photos the two parts of the hinge after seperation. It is a flat screwdriver job to prise it over the lug (frightning at first as plastic is quite stiff) but easy to pop back on. There are two torx (25) screws shrouded in the hinge which have to be removed to get front panel off. Make sure you take the torx screwdrivers as opposed to torx bits as they are recessed into the hinge quite deep and a bit will be too wide. There are two screws in the sloping control panel and three screws along the top exposed when lid is taken off. I left the ON/OFF s/w cables and small hose leading into the bezel control housing connected and just removed the ribbon cable. I then just hinged the panel open to the left. Backplate removal straight forward.
Maybe the two motors is a cheaper way of getting the extra torque required to turn the pulley through whatever clutch or gearing setup there is behind the drum pulley to get the contrarotation. there is quite a load to move when fully laden with water and soggy clothes.
