ParticipantAnyone know how to get a Dyson out of test mode? I have had Hotpoint machines stuck in test mode which could only be a faulty PCB, but this customer said he bought an ex display machine and it’s stuck in test mode

NO! NO! NO!….(Ignore Kevin’s comment, he was quoting from page 2 of the Service Manual, and not necessary at this stage)
Page 1 reads…….
….”Open the Dispenser Drawer and apply the special Dyson Tool (Part No: DC04) into the opening…….and switch on!” 😆

Ta Kev, that brightened my day up no end.
No tech info coming out of the Dyson camp Andy, I just phoned my mate who worked for them and he can’t remember as he only ever saw 1. Dyson will not tell you either. 🙁

What a farse. Just what do they hope to achieve I wonder? All they will achieve is that eventually, everyone will stop selling the product and all engineers will advise customers to steer clear of them because you can’t get them repaired.

KeymasterExactly Andy, but there’s no telling some people. 😕

Mind you K, Miele don’t seem to do bad on the same tactics

KeymasterAh, but you can get info on Meile, you just need to know who to ask.
If Meile were a bit more forthcoming and were happier to deal with the independents a bit more openly I think they’d find that they had a fantastic free salesforce.

I don’t think this is actually in a test cycle thinking about it, it’s still in the “demo” mode I’ll wager.
We had a display model in our showroom some months ago and you can enter it in to a demonstration cycle that runs continuously.
Perhaps Don may remember how to do it.
I’ll check back tommorow Andy 😉

Maybe so Dave, cheers. I can’t think why anyone would sell a demo model and leave it in Demo mode though, but any info on Dyson is interesting so please ask.
K: I reckon you would be able to get info on Dyson too – if you know who to ask 😉

Sorry Andy.
Ours was purely a demo model with half the bits missing and was pre-programmed 🙁

I’ve heard about this before, display models are exectly that – for use in a shop. a company i used to work for sold some ex display models to customers and dyson engineers had to go out and change the pcb’s to properly programmed pcb’s! 😮

There is a display/domo setting for the Zanussi XL/AEG range (the ones with the configuable modules). When in this mode, it will do all functions without water or heat. Very useful if you think you are not going to be paid……
