I’ve narrowed down the issue on my Hoover Dynamic Next dxa 49w3/1-80 to washing at 60c for prolonged periods. My family likes to wash at 60c for 1 hour (daily wash setting). Usually, it’ll get through the 1st wash, but the 2nd one will end in error e04. I check the pump every time and it’s clear. I usually wash at 40, but when doing a cotton towel at 60 for 2 hours (cotton setting), it ends in error e04. Could it be a temperature fuse issue? And no, I can’t convince them to wash at 40. I’m on an obscure forum looking for repairs on a washing machine. We have completely different mindsets.

sounds like the heater has an earth fault that gets worse as it gets hotter

check the heater insulation resistance when its hot

Thanks. Finally decided to get off my arse and fix it.The element is 41039772, 1600w. Do I have to swap like for like, or would a 1900w work as well? Does it have to be the same height and the dip in the middle the same distance from the back? Also, “new” ones like these looks used https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373919668926? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373919668926?. Is that normal?

Edit: this looks like a 1:1 replacement: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/166263246443?
