Hi there,

Any a help on this would be very much appreciated.

Been intermittently having a E20 code come up on the tumble dryer setting on my washing dryer. You put the dryer on and it goes for about 5 mins then the E20 code flashes up. The washer however continues to work fine. When this happens I stop using the tumble dryer and just use the washing machine and after a week or so tumble dryer will be working fine. This has been going on for about a year.

When my friends dad was over he took a look at it for me, and said it needed a new pump. And after he’d fiddled with it – he’d Wd40 ed it as he said it was sticking, nothing worked. Tumble dryer or washing machine.

Today I’ve replaced the pump with a new one, very impressed with myself!!! Washing machine works beautifully and sounds better than it has for ages. But the rumble dryer is still up to its old tricks. You put it on it goes for 5 mins and then starts bleeping.

Has anyone got any ideas what could be wrong ?

Sometimes a heater fault on the drier will throw up strange faults which aren’t what the code refers to. E20s are drain faults, but if theres an earth leak on the drier heater it may be displayed in error. You need to have the heater element resistance to earth checked & replaced if its low. Power off of course while working or testing the appliance.
