Was looking to get round the confusion about these today and rang the dreaded 08448 116 999 number to sort it out. Theresa answered immediately and was very polite and helpful. She explained my serial number indicated a 2001 model and I would need the complete drum etc. kit.
As I hesitated a bit, she then said she would just check to see if there were any of the old parts in stock at the warehouse. Seconds later she returned to tell me they had six of the old metal bits in stock!
I then explained I’m trade and was instantly offered 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} discount which brought the total with delivery down to a level competitive with the wholesalers’ price (for what would have been the wrong part.) On top of that I’ve got seven days from receipt in which to get a refund if I “change my mind”!
So I thought I would post this here in the hope that it might help others to save another five tumble dryers from ending up as scrap before their time.

Arrgh! After finally managing to get the thing via Yodel’s home delivery service which took about five days from the time it actually arrived in this town, I opened the box to find a plastic duct.
So, on the phone I gets and some other operative picks up this time, less patient and helpful than the one in sales last time. So it turns out the info I was given was wrong and those six metal parts don’t exist. πŸ™
They’ll refund but they’re afraid I’ll have to go to the post office and pay the return carriage. I sighed and put the phone down feeling a bit miffed.
Have since done a quick google and sent them this e-mail:

I am returning the air duct as I was supplied with a different part from that ordered. (I had been told when ordering that there were six of the obsolete metal versions of this part in the warehouse – this turns out to have been incorrect apparently).
Your operative told me on the telephone today that I would be required to pay for the return carriage. This contravenes consumer law as described on this page:
    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Governmentc … /DG_183048

“If the wrong item is delivered or it’s faulty

If you’ve been sent the wrong item or the item is faulty, you can return it and ask for your money back. In these cases the seller must cover the cost of returning the items.”

I can post it standard parcels for Β£4.41. I have already addressed and re-sealed the box.

Please get back to me by e-mail as soon as possible to confirm that you will be abiding by the law, as the item is taking up space on my premises. Waiting in for a courier collection would be inconvenient as I am seldom at home during the day.

    Yours Sincerely,…

Will update when and if I get a response.
    Mike.

In my e-mail box, 9.22am this morning:
“Thank you for your recent email.
I am sorry to hear you have experienced problems with your order and I will send you a pre paid returns label to cover the cost of the postage to get the part back to us. I will post this out for you today.
I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
    Kind Regards
