    Hi,
Just moved into a new (old!) house, that has a Elba Excellence PX906 built in Range Cooker fitted.

    A few problems..

    1. The Cooker needs a damned good industrial clean.
    2. Only one of the electrical cooker ‘modes’ actually works (the grill/oven combo setting)
    3. This is intermittent as every now and then the whole electric side of the cooker shuts off… with the power light going off and the clock resetting. After a while it switches itself back on.

My main concern is that I don’t want to chuck money at getting the thing cleaned if its still not repairable, but I am also thinking that the whole thing could be down to the lack of cleanliness of it.

    Please help!

    Thanks Phil

have not got a lot of info on this but it sounds like a cooling fan problem. A lot of units have a cooling fan to keep the controls cool if this is not running an overheat stat cuts off the power
    could be worth a look

But when the selector knob is turned (from cold) the red light comes on, but nothing else happens apart from in the one mode.
The oven compartment gets extremely hot I have noticed too

    Re: Elba Excellence PX906 Faulty

but how hot does it get?

it is not possible to guess how hot an oven is beyond about 75 degrees after that it feels hot. you cook things at 200 degrees and that feels very hot. buy a thermometer to check.

check to see if oven has cooling fan. if yes is it working

you say only one mode seems to work but you dont say which

I have the manual already thanks.
The only function that works is the grill/oven combo.

i assume you mean grill with fan

i would take a look at the function switch.
these are prone to fail on most cookers contacts carry the heater currents and burn out

remove switch ( you should not have to disconnect it) and turn it around so you can see the contacts moving and look for one that is not moving properly or burnt out

Hi, having a similar fault with the oven cutting out after about 25mins of use. The controls knobs seem to get very hot, too hot to hold. “Electrofix” mentioned that the oven may have a cooling fan? I can’t find anything on this and no spares so could the cut out be related to the thermostat TOC (thermal cut out)? Thanks in advance for any help.

    checked px906 although there is a px906g

there is no fan but there is a thermal overload listed on the wiring diag

part number 066123 described as cut off thermostat 160 degrees

    Re: Elba Excellence PX906 Faulty

Hi Dave, thanks for the reply. I’m pulling my hair out with this problem but I discovered something interesting today. The oven is def loosing heat via the door and maybe somewhere at the back (fan?). I used the normal oven setting (not fan assisted) tonight for over 2 hrs with no cut outs which generated loads of smoke as it hasn’t been used before. After 10mins of smoking it began to seep out from the front, both points were down by the door hinges. This may explain why the oven dials/fascia are getting so hot after long periods of use? My main question is how do I fix the loss of heat as the door hinges appear to be working fine and I replaced the door seal only a year or so ago. Q2. Should the door seal go all the round or are they designed to only cover the sides and top? Current door seal which is a genuine part only provides a seal to the sides and top of the door??? Thanks again for the help
