Re: Electra 1100b wont fill with hot or cold water

I have taken a photo of the pressure switch, see below, there are numbers on the terminal ends but they dont seem to tie in with any of the numbers on the switch red= BRC 10 the wire has P24 printed on it, Black= BRC 11 the wires have P11 printed on it, Grey= BRC 4 the wires have P13 printed on it.
I sadly sat through a full wash yesterday and noticed when it gets to the rinse cycle it takes in cold water for approx 5 secs, nowhere else in the wash does it attempt to take water in. I dont think the wires have been put back incorrect, but I am now starting to question myself, can someone confirm from the photo if this looks coorect. I threw the piece of paper with my notes on away. thanks again for your help,

If those factory set screws have been adjusted as they look like the level settings will never be the same.
There are two level settings the lower for the wash, the higher for the rinse/wool cycles. Sounds like the second contact set is working (the 20 series) but the first set is not registering for some reason. Load current of the heater may have done something to the contacts(possibly). A meter Or engineer)is the only way to tell.

That’s a rather chewed looking single level switch – 1-2-3 is the level, 4 (the centre tag) is the flood protect. Given that 1 is the common, 2 is normally closed then 3 is normally open, only closing when pressurised.

Seriously, that switch needs replacing if only to restore the correct settings. You will also need to check the heater as I suspect that the machine thinks it’s full and will have operated it – instant failure.

The screws were changed more in desperation really, So how much should I be paying for one of these. and is it worth carring on with it. if I buy this could it be somthing else bearing in mind I have replaced the PCB and pump so far.
Also, I payed for the man from the shop to come out,his advise was that it could be the pcb or a numer of other things, he said that he would replace the machine due to the age, should he know what the problem is, he wasnt very specific.

    Thanks dcfan

The fact that the blowing thru’ the tube to the pressure switch causes the machine to do something must point to a dodgy pressure switch ——
I would still try removing the tube from the switch —leaving the other side of the tube on and blowing thru it to make sure all is clear that end I have even blown water down these tubes on occasions to clear out any soap residue !! Power off to try this please.

finally gave into pressure, we purchased a new machine last week, having tested the pressure switch and a few other things, I new the heating eliment would need to be replaced. so I thought enough was enough. I would like to thank all who replied to my posting, this forum has been a great help , Ive learnt a lot more than I new before about my washer, even though I didnt fix it I recon its the pressure switch.
