I’ve got an Electra AWM1100AECO. It’s also numbered 074022626 and seems to have been made by Antonio Merloni, Italy. Never gave any problems but was then idle for 3.5 months. Started working again without any problem but when not used for a month or so, drum was found to be partly submerged in smelly water. This pumped out OK but a week later found to have some smelly water again in the drum. Outlet pip raised very high to see if any change – but none.
Any idea of possible causes, please. Hope you can help.

This sounds like the problem 😕
Water entering the machine from the sink, via the sink trap. Does the washing machine drain into a sink trap?

Sure does – it’s a ‘w’ shaped thing (or almost like a bottom in profile from the rear)

Errr… Don’t know what that is!
It’s taking a week for this water to appear? A lot of water?
Basically the water is either coming down the drain from the sink, or one of the valves on the machine isn’t shut properly, and a tiny amount of water is getting through.
You can eliminate the valves, by turning off the taps on the fill pipes and seeing if it’s still fills. But, do you have towait a week to check that?
The best option is check Repairs@ and see if there’s a local engineer to help you out 😉
If your going to check the valves, please unplug the machine before routing!
