I purchased an Electra SG50W_WH Cooker in May of this year. I did not realise it had a bottom burner. Straight away I realised it was running too hot. Called the company out, engineer checked, said it was ok. I was not convinced. It burns everything, gets so hot that the knobs are too hot to touch and requires welding gloves to remove things from the oven, even then it burns.

Does this seem normal for a bottom burner oven? I am too scared to use it, and the company won’t replace it as they say it’s ok. Any advice welcome please.

    Sadly it can be.
Not to put too fine a point on it, that’s a budget cooker with no active cooling fans etc so it’s very likely it will get pretty hot, the allowed temperatures are explained here:

Thanks for the link, I’ll run some tests. I’ll probably have to cope with it as is, and use the air-fryer instead of the oven. One of my senile epic fails I guess!

    No problem.
