ParticipantHi,
Above washer dryer has started displaying”F” and “2” alternately in its display and stopping in the cycle at that point. What does code F 2 mean?
Searching through I see that “Electra” is not a useful name, the model number inside the door is 9900E and presumably a serial No. 007450. The only number on the rating plate that isn’t related to a rating is “2 9633 802”.
I can’t see anything obvious inside, though the belt is on it’s last legs. That is installed with two twists. Such that the flat side of the belt is on the drum pully and the grooved side on the (grooved) motor pully. Is that right? It must stress the belt more than being untwisted.
Thank you.

Ancient Servis washer dryer…….
IIRC F2 is no drain detected in the time allowed. Pump blockage or failure, or water level control blocked.
Belt should not be twisted – tracked side inside only. Belt is p/no SV0801, spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you one promptly.
Power off if investigating.

Thanks for the very prompt reply. ‘Tis ancient, we inherited it with the house about 8 years ago and it wasn’t new by a long chalk then.
I’ll have a poke about in the pump/drain tubes it does seem to stop with some water in it. I did look at the bottom of the water level sensor and that was clear and not full of sludge but I guess any sludge would up the tube as high as the water reaches rather than at the bottom that gets flushed out.
I unplug when fiddling, let alone switch off. Had enough belts of the mains to not want anymore…

Well looked in the end of the pump outlet hose clear as a bell and in the pump inlet and outlet. On test it produces a flow of water fast enough to half fill the sink with a moderate pressure behind it. I think the pump is working fine…
The pipe for the water level sensor is clear, removed and drew a bit of wire a couple of mm dia through it. It dodn’t dislodge anything or come out all grungy. Gentle blowing up it produces two sequential clicks from the switch as the pressure goes up/down.
Trouble is the machine is still stopping with the F2 code about halfway through the cycle. 😥
Anymore ideas?

Well, a bit of research later, I’ve got that wrong 😳 .
F2 is not filling in the time allowed. Possible that the machine is syphoning if the drain hose is too far down the pipe; given the age of the machine, it’s more likely that you have a coil gone down on one of the inlet valves. They should read about 3.5kOhms each when split from the circuit.
Power off, of course.

OK, no problems with the duff gen before and thanks for doing the research.
I’ll have a look at the inlet side and see if there is anything obvious, like a lump of grud or similar, the inlet filters where clear when I removed the machine this afternoon. Our water pressure is not great (all fed from the loft tanks) so something quite small could make a significant reduction to the rate of fill.
With a machine of this age I doubt it’s economic to replace any of the valves and it needs a new belt as well.

Haven’t got the info to hand, but belts are typically £8-12, so hardly expensive. The valve might be a problem – the “fat” outlet tubes were unique to Servis and are almost certainly obsolete by now. However, if it’s just a dead solenoid coil, it is possible to tease the coil off the centre post and push another coil on. A “universal” type single valve is a similar sort of price to the belt, so persevere a while yet.

if its stopping in mid-cycle could there be a thermostat/timer/ heater problem?

Er, no. It may be ancient but the fault code system was quite specific – and accurate.

Well, I’ve had a good look at the valve coils they all have 3k9 resistance one is a bit higher (4k?) but the coil looks different to the others on that assembly so may have been replaced. Took the inlet filters out, some interesting debris but not a great deal. Tried the machine again and it still stopped in one of the early rinse stages. It’ll “Fill”, “Heat” and “Wash” it’ll drain and start to refill, it fails with the water just about up to the door seal.
Without any more, simple, bright ideas to try it’ll be off to the dump I think. Along with needing a new belt all the tyres on the wheels have given up and fallen off.

Oh, dear. Probably the computer board in that case – some sort of triac failure perhaps.
The tyres were usually off by the time these were three years old :rolls:
