    HI all,
I have a gas electric oven,
but with all the power failures I am considering replacing the set with a free-standing gas stove.
I need some advice, I am not too sure about the gas oven? Does it bake and do the job as nice as an electric oven? Thanks a million!

I much prefer to cook with gas but make sure you get a “zoned” heat gas oven this is the one where you can see the burner at the back dont go for one which has the burner hidden under the base of the oven as these are not really suited to roasting or baking and you’ll struggle to get good cooking results. Its also worth noting that if you get a gas oven with an electronic timer then that too may not work in the event of a power failure.

There are some freestanding all gas models that just use a battery for the ignition and so dont need to be plugged into the mains you need to look for one of them but they mostly seem to only be in 50cm width for example a Zanussi ZCG563FX .
