It depends on the size of hob (i.e 2 ring, 4 ring etc) as to its electrical requirements. A 2 ring will usually work via a conventianal 13 amp plug and socket type supply. A 4 or 5 ring will require ‘hard wiring’ by a qualified electrician to a 30 or 40 amp supply back to your domestic consumer unit.

A local electrician can advise and install for you (NOT a DIY job at all). Also your worktop may need cutting to accomodate it of course. 😉

    thanks martin

I am in the middle of having a kitchenette built in an upstairs part of a house we share with in laws, (she is a bit wierd when it come to kitchen so we having pour own mini one built) so i would be going for a 2 ring most likley as. Akitchen company is building the kitchen and will fitt it all but i was concerned as we have no plugs as such in the space bing fitted. so thanks for the advice any idea where i would be able to source a 2 ring hob from in ireland? we are quite close to londonderry boarder so can get access to currys etc.

Yes I’m certain you will be able to just plug a 2 ring into a wall socket. Some, I believe, come with a mains lead and plug attached (but you may like to check that with your supplier?).

As to where?….not sure but Neff do a very posh Domino ceramic hob. 😉

Comes with a posh price as well 😉

Gorenje EM300E solid plate or the ECS300SC details here http://www.gorenje.co.uk/default.asp?id=3593&page=3 not bad machines, good value and have the added bonus of a five year parts and labour warranty. Hotpoint also, with the EV302X ceramic hob and the E302 solid plate. Not such a good buy as they will only come with the standard one year labour and five years parts only warranty 😉 http://www.hotpoint.co.uk/macro/product … typeref=34
