ParticipantHi,
I know it sounds a bit vague but i’ve had 2 or 3 electric ovens recently where the customer has complained that the door leaks water/condensation. The seals have been fine, in fact the last one was only a few months old and I was repairing the washer at the same time, she just wanted advice.
I’ve now had a friend of mine on the phone tonight with a range oven doing the same. Has anybody had any experience with this problem?January 29, 2015 at 7:41 pm #424178Martin

Often created by lots of moisture content in whatever is being cooked. For example: roasting potatoes, frozen chips, baking apples. Even grilling bacon and tomatoes where the door has to be shut can produce a lot of excess moisture with nowhere to go but run down the door glass.

Yep, have had some Beko/GD one sdoing this, they have a modification of a drip tray to fit under door which collects it. Advise customer to cover foods if possible.
What make and model arey you referring to?

Don’t know the one my friend has Until I visit tomorrow night, I just know it’s a range and it’s doing it on both ovens consistently she says.
I’ll update you tomorrow but I have to say I’ve never had this happen on any of my ovens when cooking and I don’t cover food. I sometimes get a bit of condensation steam hit me as I open the door but not to the extent where it drips out and you have to put paper towels down on the floor.January 29, 2015 at 8:01 pm #424181Andy jones

Our old hotpoint cooker was a nightmare for it, especially doing roasts.

Just had a cooker do this under warranty. Was advised by tech to cut the bottom of the seal off and make it a goalpost seal instead of four sided. Seems to have some the trick.

Just to update, the make is a leisure and the model no is HJA 5100.
I think its just too good of a seal and i’m tempted to make it into a three sided seal rather than a four sided one.
Has anybody tried this.Cheers

Didn’t bazza500 just say that?

Can be caused by not pre heating the oven prior to putting in the food and also a blocked exhaust vent, very common on some FSE Bekos

Cheers
Leisure/Beko, I think the door has been modified to overcome this issue, theres an updated design of door with 2 inner glass panels and a rubber seal betwen the 2 inner glass panels, its triple glazed now.
Also as I previously posted there is a drip tray that can be fitted below the oven door on a lot of these Beko/Leisure cookers & ranges to collect dribbles. Not sure that cutting the seal would be effective as these have enough of a problem keeping oven cavity up to temperature without losing heat through door seal gap.

Is this a recall or modification? Is this something a customer can call beko to complain about and get done for free. It sounds like it’s going to be a big job (expensive) to swap 2 oven doors on this range cooker, especially with it being a friend.

the Smeg line on this is that they are sealed ovens, rather than older, in efficient vented ovens and there is no fault.

CheersNot recall as far as i’m aware, but I think they have learned from production & made/designed a better quality door now which can be ordered to replace original one. Beko parts are not expensive, the customer could however complain to the manufacturers and ask for it to be sorted out as a “goodwill” gesture and see how they get on. Beko are quite good at sorting out issues like this even if its outside warranty.
