Help needed please – I was directed to this site from the MSE forums for an answer, I hope someone ‘in the know’ can help.

My Electrolux built in double oven (model EOD5310X) has a noisy cooling fan unit. The fan is a cylindrical fan which sits on the top of the oven. I have looked at the unit and found that a small graphite looking washer in a rubber grommit, within which the fan spindle spins, has worn to become oval rather than circular. Consequently when in operation the fan is very noisy.

No problem 💡 I thought, I’ll get a replacement. No chance so far. All I can get is a replacement fan unit for about £55. 👿 It is so annoying that such a small piece, probably costing less than a penny each to the manufacturers, needs replacing but in this ‘chuck it out world’ all I can do is replace the whole unit

Can anyone advise me of any places to look for a spare part. I’ve tried the usual spare parts type places, both locally and on the net, and even e-bay with no luck.

    Many thanks in advance, Martin.

You won’t get the washer anywhere I doubt but the whole thing can be ordered from this link quite a bit cheaper 😉

Thanks Dave, thats an awful lot cheaper. It just goes to show that you need to know where to look. Still dearer than just the washer but it looks like I’ll just have to bite the bullet.

    Thanks again.
