Wonder if anyone could advise about my dishwasher problem please?

It’s an Electrolux ESL63010 integrated full size model, approximately 5 years old.

I’m away from home right now and son phoned to say the dishwasher was on as usual last night and started beeping. He thought that was the end of the cycle so he opened the door but there was still water in the bottom of the machine and it continued to beep.

He switched it off (at the machine and also at the socket) then tried to switch it on again but it wont do anything or even drain the water away. He says he also has a problem selecting a program as the control panel seems to freeze and wont let him select a new program unless he switches off and on again. Even if he does select a new program, it makes no difference as the machine still wont start or drain the water.

I got him to check the usual things, filter, kinked drain hose etc and he says the filter is clean (it’s just him and girlfriend so no full heavy dirty loads) and the hoses are fine.

    Any ideas?

    Possibly the pump is blocked.

Cheers for the reply Seamy. Is the pump easy to get at? I’d have to talk son through this over the phone as I wont get back for weeks.

Not really, as it’s an integrated appliance it’s more difficult. Basically the kickboard has to come off & the access panel behind it removed, pump can be reached on most of them from the front. Care must be taken, plug out before any work is carried out! All water should be removed from sump of appliance with a sponge etc first. Remove drain pump & check for something fouling the impellor. Careful as sometimes there can be glass or crockery shards stuck there. Refit pump & fit front before testing!
