ParticipantI have a Electrolux double oven eod5330x .
We seem to think that the main oven is just not getting to the correct temperature even though the light is going off when it reaches temperature but we have to have the temperature on full to cook anything . The thermostat probe is intact inside but only held on with one clip as the other must have got lost . Also the thermostat probe sits directly above where the heat from the fan comes out is this correct as pretty sure it’s alwAys been there . Just wondered if anybody could tell me if they think it’s the thermostat or heater element at fault but they are both working but just not getting to the correct temperature as everything has to be cooked at full . If we set it to 200 it’s gets to temperature and the light goes off to say it’s at temperature but I’m sure it’s not 200. I would have thought if the thermostat or element was faulty that it wouldn’t work and start and stop like it does .February 26, 2017 at 11:54 pm #445638electrofix

elements normally either work or not so its most likely your thermostat
this is the thermostat for the main fan oven

Thanks I will get the thermostat to check the temperature and if wrong I will get the thermostat with probe . I just would have thought if the thermostat has failed it would either get too hot or not at all but obviously something is causing it but it’s definitely not getting hot enough. Also is the thermostat probe correct sitting very near the outlet of the heat at the back as that’s the only place I can see where it goes on the 1 hook .

probe is fine as long as it is not in contact with the element.
these thermostats are a mechanical device. oil in the sensor expands with the heat and is fed down a tube to a bellows in the main housing, they wear with age and go out of calibration. if the light goes out then the stat has turned off the elements if the elements had failed the light would never go out
