An Englishman in Glasgow
ParticipantHi Guys,
Great looking forum.
Need some help.
The above DW only started this last night,
After looking at other people having simular probs, i thought i would ask the question, and wonder weather the fault depends on the make/model.got half 2/3 through the cycle last night, and trips the consumer unit.
wont power up without tripping. although main fuse on DW spur is ok, consumer unit keeps tripping out.
its now stuck 2/3 though the program.
have taken the front door panel, and kick panels off to expose the workings.
many people say about the heating element being a problem(?)Im not a spark or a white goods eng, but If i was to disconect the heating element from the spade connector (and tape it up with leccy tape) and start her up again, if it doesnt trip.
suppose this could be the fault?other than that, if it still trips, any ideas would be welcome.
thanks guys and help would be most welcome. 😥

Running it like that will…
A. Be dangerous.
B. Probably just give you an error code.
Does the dishwasher drain okay? I ask as, two thirds of the way through a cycle the heater has already been on for a while so it’s unlikely that’s the cause.

Hi K,
Yes, I know about the danger and am very careful when it comes to water + Leccy.
its funny, I powered it all up last night without doing a thing, and it ran through a cycle without a fault.
Cant remember it getting hot though (as if heating element is now faulty) but will check tonight.
one other thing i noticed was that the top of the machine (under the lid) had a bit of water lying on the tar-like covering. no idea how water got up there.
I guess (and its only a guess till i try it tonight)
but if the heating element has burnt out, shorted or whatever, it would trip the RCD.
but if it no longer works, would the DW continue to work, just without the heating part of it?
cheersJ
