We keep our 6 year old Electrolux ECM 1957 Chest Freezer in the coal shed.
Recently it has started to beep and flash both the alarm & warning pilot lights (there maybe a dim number 8 on the lcd display). This seems to occur at various external temperatures. It will eventually reboot by unplugging and holding the alarm and frostmatic buttons down when it is plugged back in. When it switches back on the temperature tends to be low e.g. -23
Can anyone suggest what is causing the problem and if it is worth repair.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi

I have just seen your post! It’s a long shot, but did you ever get to the bottom of the problem with your chest freezer – mine’s just started doing the same.
    Thanks

This article explains problems to some degree,if there are electronocs involved in the control system condensation will be a problem in an insulated buildings subject to rapid temperature changes this may affect the operation.
Plus usually the cabinets will tend to rust more than when in an indoor atmosphere.
