Electrolux EDE57160W Tumble Dryer – 2nd returned in 2 weeks

Hi all, I recently posted a fault with a 2 year old Hotpoint condensing tumble dryer and decided to bin it and swap it for a Electrolux EDE57160W under advice from the lovely folks on this forum, but….. we’ve had our second one delivered today and I need to call them to take it back again. The first one we had lasted 6 days before it began turning itself off after 30 seconds or so, and the second today is a bit uncertain of what to do – it’s blowing cold sometimes, other time blowing hot, but it just turns itself off after a while for no reason again. I may have been unlucky twice, but I thought these things were meant to be amongst the better ones out there.

For your info:
– I’ve knocked a hole through the wall to vent externally and there’s no problem with airflow,
– This is a vented model with sensor dry,
– The dryer lives in an unheated utility room,
– Neither have been abused as we never got the chance!

Should I get a 3rd machine; have a change of plan about manufacturer; get my money back and sit with a hairdryer; get my money back and fix the old Hotpoint CTD30 for £95 and find an extended warranty for it?

quite strange this one to me anyway others may differ.

however instruction manual does say it must be used in a room +5c to 35c. and does sugest in user manual p21 if it is underloaded or too dry it will stop. and sugests using another program.

With 9 programs to use it may take a little getting used to or youve been extreemly unlucky.

The room is unheated but it was hovering around 8-9c when the dryer was on. Also, as the washing was taken straight from our washing machine in to the dryer they wouldn’t have been too dry. I am strongly considering looking for a new manufacturer as I am very disappointed with Electrolux/Zanussie/AEG with my lot so far – any suggestions.
