ParticipantDon’t know if anybody can help but am at my wits end. I bought
an ENB40405 new 24 months ago and it has been a nightmare. It is supposed to be a frost free design but you get a build up of ice in the freezer quite regularly. I have lost count of the number of times the repair people have been out and nothing changes. They alleged at one stage that the problem was a faulty design of the waste valve which apparently has been remedied on newer versions but that does not help me. When they last came out in December they simply blamed a blocked drain valve. The unsurer will not replace because the repairer will not condemn the apliance even thouhgh it clearly does not work properly.
Has anyone had similar experienmces with this model – I cannot believe
it is only me.
Any help or advice appreciated.Canonman 😯

Its difficult to diagnose without seeing the applaince, but there is a kit to resolve this problem, it includes a new drain valve, sealant & insulation foam rubber. Best to report it as faulty to the insurance service company. If its not resolved get them back until it is, simples.

Cheers Seamy. I will log a repair again and see what happens.
Although I didn’t explain in my original post, all they have done todate is fit a heated collar to the top of the drain tube as they said the problem was a plug of ice occuring because the freezer was too cold!

This won’t help the original requestor as we’re now 2 years further on but it may help someone else who finds this forum via a Google search.
I have a John Lewis JLFFW 1807 fridge freezer which is the same model with a different badge and suffered the same symptoms. The cause of the problem was a faulty thermal cutout. This prevented the heater cutting in to defrost the ice. Once diagnosed the part itself wasn’t too expensive but still involved a labour charge.
