    Good afternoon,

I’m wondering if someone can help with the above oven tripping fault, as I’ve been unable to diagnose the fault?

My electrician customer renewed the oven element, before asking for my assistance.

It’s a basic fan oven with grill, and trips after a few seconds when selecting grill or fan oven functions. (the fan motor runs, and gives a good Ohms reading) although if this is disconnected both elements heat a little regardless!

I suspect a short circuit, but would welcome some advice on trying to diagnose.

    Many thanks,

    jonty

I’ve tested/had a look at the fan motor, grill element, selector switch and wiring harness as best as possible.

Have the elements been tested with a megger or similar insulation tester.. including the new one?

    Good evening,

Yes, I did carry out insulation tests on the elements, which I should have stated.

I have found the cause of the tripping fault this afternoon… perhaps my system isn’t as sensitive as the customers’ as when I ran the fan oven for a few minutes the motor burned itself out, without tripping!

This despite the bearings being free, and the windings giving a good Ohms resistance reading.

New motor on order… hope that’s all it is!
