Hope you can help, it`s a long story but then you`ll get the facts.
Went to this machine because the cooling fan was noisy, I ordered a new one and replaced it. She then phones me after a week to say that it is not getting hot enough in the main oven. Went back tested the thing with my mechanical testing stat which read 200+/-15 degrees = 200 degrees via the t/stat on the oven but ordered a new stat because the phial looked corroded anyway. Tested the m/oven with the new m/oven stat fitted after doing the modification to fit part 506008303006 ( as per e/lux website after serial 118) with 2 mechanical stats side by side which both read different by 60 degrees! The original testing stat read at 160 so now it shows that it under cooks based on that being almost spot on from the first test and the newer testing stat read a bit over 220 so took both testing stats home and tried them in my own 35 year old cooker and the original testing stat is spot on more-or-less and the newer one from Qualtex is 50-60 reading too hot. She`s now phoned up again to say she can`t cook/roast potatoes and at 160 she`d be right, now going there again tomorrow. The main oven fan works fine, obviously nothing wrong with the element, the oven door seals ok, the oven inner door was replaced at the same time because she screwed up the enamel when she forced the door trying to copy me when I took it off the refit a seal strip after I`d pushed off and then blamed me and the hinges have been replaced. The only thought I have is if the o/load button stat at the back of the cooker is playing up- any other ideas please? I really want to get shot of her as soon as possible so I never have to sully her kitchen again, she`s cost me alot of money already.Help please!February 26, 2015 at 12:08 am #425110electrofix

if you set it to 200 degrees and you get 200 degrees plus or minus a bit then she needs to learn to cook.
over time you get used to an oven stat but if you change it you have got to learn to use it all over again. suggest you give her an oven thermometer as they aree very cheap then she can see the temp is correct and cant blame youDave

Yes been through all that with her thx. The oven button safety stat is rated at 180 degree cut out, via e/lux website, does this stop the whole oven or does it just disconnect the m/oven element should it fail?

On this model the hinge supports can bend giving the impression it is the hinges at fault when it isn’t and this thermostat from Qualtex is it a genuine part or a cheap copy ?

Thanks to everyone.Update: genuine thermostat was fitted not el cheapo copy. Developments: my hunch that perhaps it was the o/heat button stat at the rear of the machine: ignore this as it was a red herring on my part looking for ideas, gasping for breath, clutching at straws! The crux of the problem was as follows: she needed the cooker to get to the right temperature, I bought and I changed the stat to cure the problem as per reference the instruction leaflet enclosed in the packet with the new stat trouble is, despite writing down the which wires went where with reference to the modification before I even moved wires IT WAS WRONG!!!! She needed this cooker repaired for a big do over a weekend, the newly fitted stat did not reach temperature it would not roast the sodding bloody potatoes and in desperation she called out Elux. The work sheet noted “thermostat wired wrong sort out and test”. So, either my 30 years in the trade still means I can`t do a simple mod when I checked then double checked the wiring mod with the basic instructions in which case I`m a dick head ( no comments please! ) or he was told to write what he wrote which I think is a load of kriptonite-so very doubtful this was the case, or the pissing wiring mod was just plain wrong! I know it wasn`t the former, I should hate to think the middle one, that leaves the last one……so you tell me?
