    ER 7626B Type B258870 PNo 925 887 601-01

Fridge stops cooling, freezer ok. Removing the rear freezer panel the ( condenser? ) grill is totally iced up. After defrost it is ok for a week or two before warm fridge and icing reoccurs.

Is it the defrost heater? If so how do I remove/replace it?

Could be derost heater or pcb (which runs the defrost) or wiring connections. There is also a thermal protector fixed near to the top of the evaporator which may be faulty or open circuit. All need checking for continuity or resistance along with the connectors with a meter, maybe time for an engineer

Thanks for the reply. I can test for open short circuits if I know what resistances I should be looking for but if it is the pcb it will have to be an engineer, or as it is quite old, one to give up on.

Unplug first, just look for continuity through the connecting plugs, the only resistance req’d is for the element which is usually 10 to 30 watt,it’s often stamped on the side of the element, then go to ohm’s law calcultion

Thanks spimps. A process of elimination led me to the defrost timer. Luckily a fairly simple mechanical device rather than a modern pcb. It wasn’t rotating so I replaced it. Thanks again.
