Electrolux ESL6115 dishwasher fault

Hello, I have an Electrolux 6115 dishwasher that has worked fine for 10 years until yesterday. When I switch on the door power button ready to set the programme it starts what sounds like the drain pump working – it gurgles as if it is trying to suck but there is no liquid to suck. Obviously it shouldn’t be doing anything at this stage as I haven’t selected a programme and closed the door.
If I hold down the Cancel button as if to cancel a programme the gurgling stops after a few seconds. I can then select a programme but when I close the door to start it nothing happens. I’ve noticed that the End Programme LED is flashing 8 times if that is significant. Any help would be much appreciated as I like to fix rather than replace (and I’ve just spend £40 on a new lower spray arm and rollers for the bottom drawer!).

It has activated the anti flood device there will be water in its base. you will need to remove the water from the base and then run it checking for any leaks

Thanks very much for the quick response – I’ve taken the machine out so I can get to it and I’ll have a look for water in the base and leaks.
