Anyone know if the drum is stainless steel?

    Thanks in advance.

If you mean the outer tank, no, it’s plastic.

The inner drum, the bit you can see, usually always is.

    Hmmm.

I’ve got a washing machine cleaner that says it can only be used with stainless steel drums. It’ll be alright won’t it?

Without knowing what cleaner and what it’s doing, not possible to tell you.

However, there are some washing machine cleaners out there that can wreck a plastic or composite tank so I wouldn’t risk it if I were you. Along with some really, really bad advice I’ve seen.

Most older washing machines (when they weren’t so cheap) had a stainless steel or enamel coated metal outer tank on cheaper ones but, in recent times with the advent of cheaper and cheaper washing machines the low end stuff is virtually exclusively plastic outer tanks.

Nowadays you don’t get into full stainless steel or metal tanks until you get up to ISE and Miele territory as they’re expensive. Much more durable and, in my opinion, hugely more efficient and hygienic but, not so cheap.

Which is why we only sell washing machine cleaners we know work and don’t destroy stuff. 😉

The best of which is Affresh which is here

Not tested it so I can’t say for sure but, from what I was told, it’s pretty inoffensive so it’ll probably be okay.
