Electrolux EWF1074 drum not spinning

The drum on my Electrolux EWF1074 (PNC 914900157) has stopped moving.

The washing machine still fills with water and drains ok but during the washing or spinning cycles the drum does not move.

I have checked the drum and it still moves freely when the machine is switched off. I can’t detect any motor noise when the drum should be moving.

Either the belt is off or broken or the motor carbon brushes have worn. Power off :lesson: if you are doing any testing or removing covers.

Thanks for your help Seamy. The belt seems to be fine but the brushes are probably beyond my level of ability to fix. Do worn brushes require complete motor replacement?

If you are mechanically minded person who can fix cars then replacing brushes is very easy. The holder comes in different shapes but they are the same. It is worth noting if you can get the parts first before attempting to do the work.
