ParticipantModel – EWF1408W
PNC – 914 900 081-00
Serial number – 644 70306I went out to one of these today and im now scratching my head.
Customer reported no drum action so I removed the back cabinet and found a broken wire to the earthing point on the induction motor.
Made it good and motor action recovered.
I filled the machine up on a wash (cottons @ 30o with quick wash selected) to test it. The water level was very high for a modern machine. I was about 1/4 full in the drum. The circulation pump kicked in and the drum began to turn but didn’t seem to turn much and there were long pauses in between. As it happened, my customer had another washing machine in another house down the road which was faulty so I left the machine running while I went to look at that. When I returned about 30 mins later, the count down on the machine still displayed 59 mins and the start light was flashing. Also the program state lights were illuminated (wash, rinse & spin).
The machine drains down fine.
Bit stuck with this one.. Any ideas? Thanks in advance,
Rob.

Have you checked pressure switch system? Sounds as though it might have tried to continue filling while you were away and got to an overfill protection point. Broken wire could be explained by high level of water leading to machine trying to spin before fully drained and jiggling about.
Diagnostics are probably available on Connect site.

If its the 3phase motor are you sure the earth was a clean earth connection. Think from memory its a white cable connection to the earth of the motor that comes from invertor board.

Yes Seamy, the earth tag was good and I made a good new connection with a crimp tag (using a propper crimp tool) I even noticed it was a very good tight fit!

Check heater element(s) for any sign of earth leakage (below 40Mohm at 500v is enough to throw up a problem. Tis written so in Lux manuals.) Other suspects are motor and pressure switches. Can’t find diagnostics for this one on Connect but should be same as for other Lux. (See cab’s posts in “known test procedures” sticky.)
And go easy on that bike.

Cheers Mike have changed the element but still the same I forgot to say this is an intermitant fault as it does not happen every time the customer uses the m/c .
